Making treats for your bird is such fun.Here are 2 recipes for you to try this weekend. Watch your bird enjoy being spoilt. All birds should be spoilt.
Cookies….
Half a cup of peanuts washed to take the salt of.
Almond nuts cut up in your food processor
1 cup of whole grain flour
half a cup of millet seed.
Half a cup of sunflower seeds
Half a tablespoon of good quality oil
1 or 2 eggs to make a nice dough mixture.
You can mix any other nuts you want, chop them in your food processor.
Mold them into small cookie sizes that will fit between your birds cage bars.
Bake for 12 minutes in a medium heat oven or untill lightly brown.
Allow to cool, store in the refigerator in an air tight container.
Give 1 to your bird every couple of days..
Fruit and nut bars….
2 large eggs
quarter a cup of walnuts
quarter a cup of raisins
quarter a cup of fruit juice.. liqui fruit, ceres or other
quarter a cup of apple sauce
halfa cup of mixed vegetables cut very small
18 oz of whole grain flour
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
mix all the ingredients in a large bowl
pour the batter into a well greased 8×8 pan
bake for 20 minutes
when cool cut into squares and store in an air tight container in the fridge.
